Art is for Everyone!
Hillsboro Arts League (HAL) is a grassroots, volunteer-run organization. Its mission is
to enliven and enlighten the community by promoting the arts and local artists.
Forming in 2022, we opened the doors of our gallery, classroom and film darkroom
in January 2023. HAL was designated a 501(c)(3) nonprofit in September 2023.

HAL has lots of ideas for the future! Public art, art classes for all ages, events, and more.

Hillsboro Arts League is calling for mural artists to submit design ideas for a mural near the Hill County Courthouse.
The theme for the mural is “Welcome to Hillsboro.” The area for the mural is located across Covington Street from the Hill County Courthouse. The mural area is approximately 30’x15’. Design ideas and estimated cost should be submitted to hillsborotxarts@gmail.com by May 9.
Submitted designs will be selected by a panel of Hillsboro Arts League members, and approved by the City and the building owner.

This is the building selected for a mural. It is located at the corner of Covington & Franklin streets.

2024 RECAP
In 2024, Hillsboro Arts League accomplished a lot!

-
HAL received a $5,000 grant to paint murals in downtown Hillsboro! This will be our major concentration for 2025. We also raised another $1,200 from individuals!
-
HAL held Bond's Alley Art Festival for the second year, with a concert on Friday night at The Yard.
-
We held, our third annual Sidewalk Sale at the Scout Hut on Corsicana Highway, raising almost $1,000 each year. Surplus items were donated to Paw Pals for their fundraiser.
-
At least 16 classes were taught by our member artists -- jewelry, painting, photography
All of this was accomplished with only volunteer efforts. Our gallery is open most weekends Friday and Saturday. Or visit by appointment, 682.847.6126.

We need donors for 2025! Here's some of what we are working on:
-
At our gallery, generously supported by F&C Eaton Enterprises, LLC, local artists in varied media display their works.
-
Art instructors hold classes for all ages in our classroom.
-
A darkroom has been built to share the craft of film photography with young and old.
-
Public art installation of murals, sculpture and other artwork to beautify downtown
-
Provide opportunities for arts integration into Hillsboro business and community: art exhibits and walks, flash mobs, one-act plays, musical performances
